Health posts in Casamance: electricity, printer and television
Casamance, in southern Senegal, is surrounded by the river and the sea. At one health post in the region, staff used to take the boat to town for a photocopy. The post closed for a day to deliver its monthly report to the health district.
In 2026, under the JICA Biz programme of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), three health posts in Casamance received a TUMIQUI Smart Kit, a Seiko Epson printer and a television. TUMIQUI JAPON SASU carried out the installation, staff training and follow-up.

Seven years in health posts
The group started in Senegal with health. In 2019, ten health posts without electricity received a Smart Kit, under the memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health and Social Action. In the health posts the group has electrified, more than 600 deliveries have taken place with electricity.
The three Casamance posts add the printer and the television to the kit. The pairing of the Smart Kit with the printer is being tested at these sites. The lessons will be used for the next deployments in the region.
